Question: How to tattoo?

A friend recently left me with his tattoo gun and equipment. Any books on how to start learning to tattoo. Or how do you proceed to this new hobby?

No. If you want to become a tattoo artist, get a license. By the way, I'm pretty sure " to tattoo " is not a verb.

Uhhh i would sugest doing a friend or the bottom of ur foot first just in case ;) but i hate tatoos i wouldnt do it at all...

Unless you are certified, home tattooing is illegal everywhere in the US I believe. I would keep it on the downlow and search Amazon.com for any kind of book that might aid you. Blessings.

You need to apprentice under a tattoo artist that knows what he's doing. no "tattoo school " or book is going to help you get the knowledge you'll get from apprenticing with someone that knows what theyre doing. its all about experiencing it....

Well your probobly going to persue this anyway, no matter who of us tell you not to..so i have heard of people practicing on pig skins, etc..before ever tattooing people, i would deffinetaly experiment with that first

I have started to tattoo not so long ago, there are forums u can log on to. teachmetotattoo.com is one of them, there are books, i didnt get an apprenticeship cuz well i dont have 1500 to do it plus im a family man so my kids are important to me, well log onto the site and we can help u even more

There is no licence that you can get for learning how to tattoo .The only license is if you open your own tattoo bussiness. Any artist found not following this sterile chain of events can have their licensing and/ or certification revoked. Any studio found not following U.P. guidelines can be shut down. Details of U.P. guidelines can be found on the CDC website, but the basics include things like using gloves and other barriers on anything the artist comes in contact with, disinfecting all surfaces and general cross-contamination prevention
